Ch 10: Conics

Here we are at the end of the road. Only one thing left to cover: CONICS.
What are conics?
Conics are cross sections of a cone.
If you take a cone and slice it at different angles you will see the 4 different conic shapes:
Parabalas
Circles
Elipses
Hyperbolas
You will complete a Webquest to explore and learn about conics.
Have fun as you explore the world of conics.
Here is the link to the webquest.

1. What are some of the ways Exponential and Logarithmic Functions are used in the "Real World"? Please explain your answer in detail.

2. How does the properties of exponents we have learned in the last 2 chapters help us to solve exponential and logarithmic functions? Or do they have no bearing on the subject?

Solving Systems of Equations

What are the 3 methods for solving systems of equations?

Your group needs to click here to complete the first webquest assignment. Each person on the team will complete the practice problems and answer the questions on their own sheet of paper and turn them in to either Ms. McGuire or Ms. Zomer. When you get to the section that says:
Now, let's explore a website.
Go to the Coolmath link below and complete sections 1-5. Do not do the Crunch some until after section 4. Then copy down and show your work for 3 problems.
Then complete
Questions to think about. On the original website.

Then the group will click here to complete the second assignment. This webquest requires the group to work together and complete a series of tasks and create and end project. It gives you the choice between a poster or a power point presentation. The groups will begin presentations on Wednesday, October 10. The ruberic for grades is given on the website.
